In the wake of the recent U.S. attack on Iran, every American law enforcement officer needs to grasp a harsh truth. If you're wearing a badge and carrying a gun, you're on the IRGC’s radar. Whether you're patrolling a small town or a major city, you now represent a symbolic target to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. At 1856 hours on Saturday, June 21, 2025, the IRGC’s official Telegram channel issued a coded message activating its proxies and operatives. Immediately after, a member of Iran's parliament publicly called for attacks on U.S. military personnel and American civilians in Saudi Arabia. This wasn’t rumor, it came straight from their own Telegram channel, which has over 633,000 anonymous subscribers. This is how terrorists operate, through encrypted platforms where identities are hidden and radical ideologies can be spread unchecked.

Understanding Symbolism in Terrorist Attacks

The IRGC isn’t like ISIS or Al-Qaeda. They are professional military-grade intelligence operatives with strategy and discipline. Their focus is on global influence, symbolic power, and perceived dominance. Attacks are not just tactical, they are statements. The more symbolic the target, the more powerful the message. What better symbol of American order, safety, and authority than a law enforcement officer? In their ideological view, targeting a cop is targeting the backbone of American societal strength.

I Was Taught to Hate America

I wasn’t born in Iran, but I was raised there from infancy. I was indoctrinated as a child soldier candidate. I was taught that America was the Great Satan. Hatred for the United States was ingrained into me before I even understood what freedom was. That same indoctrination is still being weaponized today, only now, it’s directed by highly trained IRGC operatives using modern digital platforms to recruit, plan, and attack.

Why Cops Are the Target

In the Middle Eastern mindset, symbolism is power. If the IRGC or one of its proxies can take out an American cop, they don't just commit a crime, they send a message. It says, 'We can reach you. We can hurt you. And we can shatter the illusion of safety on your home soil.' That’s why this moment requires more than just situational awareness. It demands a shift in mindset across every level of law enforcement.

Officer Awareness and Action Steps

First, shift your awareness. Don’t panic, prepare. Know that every routine call, traffic stop, and community visit places you in public view. Second, educate yourself and your team. Understand not just tactics but ideology. Learn how these groups think, what they value, and how they signal intent. Third, control the narrative. Don’t let media misinformation paint a false picture. Speak the truth, prepare your agency, and make sure your community knows the threats are real and that you're standing in the gap to protect them.
